OLLI Community Speaker Series - Brendan Slocumb
October 26 | 3-4 p.m. | Free & Open to the Public
Nationally acclaimed and award-winning author Brendan Slocumb will join the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Chico State's Community Speaker Series to discuss his breakout novel, The Violin Conspiracy.
Inspired by his own experiences, the novel follows a Black classical musician whose treasured family heirloom violin is stolen on the eve of a prestigious music competition. Join us via Zoom from 3-4 p.m. on October 26, for a thought-provoking conversation about discrimination, family dynamics, and the resonance of classical music. The conversation will be facilitated by Chico State Dean of Humanities and Fine Arts Tracy Butts, and is free and open to the public.
In the meantime, get acquainted with Brendan Slocumb by listening to a 7-minute NPR interview and picking up a copy of his book, The Violin Conspiracy.
The Zoom link will be available on the OLLI website closer to the date.
