Wildcat ID
All students will use their Wildcat ID to access emails and log into their class in Blackboard Learn. Open University students will be sent their Wildcat ID in their class registration confirmation email, which should be kept for future reference.
Textbooks
Textbook information is available from the AS Bookstore.
Blackboard Learn
Blackboard Learn is the Chico State Learning Management System. Online classes are delivered using Blackboard Learn and all students can access textbook information and course materials in Blackboard Learn. Early review of coursework is highly recommended.
Access Your Class Information
It is strongly recommended that you make sure your computer can access your class as soon as possible. Sign into the Chico State Portal and follow the links to Blackboard Learn. If you need assistance with Blackboard Learn, visit the campus' Learning Technologies support pages.
WildcatMail
California State University, Chico considers e-mail to be the essential method for communicating official University business with students. Each student is provided with a campus WildcatMail email account. Review the contents of your WildcatMail account on a frequent and regular basis. Communications from your instructors, as well as official notifications from the university regarding enrollment, fees, holds and financial aid will only be sent to your WildcatMail account.
If you do not want to check your WildcatMail account on a regular basis, you can have your emails forwarded to another e-mail address. Forwarding instructions are available in the ITSS Knowledge Base.
Grades & Transcripts
Faculty submit grades after the class ends and grades can be viewed in the Portal.
Official transcripts are obtained from the Students Records Office. For more information, or to request a transcript, visit their website.
On-Campus Resources
Meriam Library
The library will be open during summer and the hours will be posted online. As an Open U student, you are entitled to full privileges of the library. An ID card that gives you circulation privileges may be obtained at the Wildcat ID Card Office in Meriam Library 142.
Student Health Center
Open University students enrolled in six or more units can use the Student Health Center services for a $258 per semester fee. Fees must be paid by the fourth Friday of the semester (census date). Bring your receipt for health services serves as proof of coverage when visiting the Student Health Center. Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC)
Open University students are invited to take advantage of Chico State’s Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC) You must be enrolled in two classes and show proof of enrollment in order to sign up. For more information, call 530.898.4444.

When balancing them with work and life, university classes can be intense! Here are some tips to help you succeed:
- Check your WildcatMail account regularly for important updates about your class.
- Log in to your Blackboard Learn as soon as possible to make sure you have access to the class syllabus, class materials, and any important communications from your instructor.
- Complete any appropriate pre-class preparation.
- Contact the instructor if you have any questions about the class, assignments, or preparation.
- Be sure to order your textbooks as soon as possible.
- Clear your schedule so that you can focus on the class.
