Winter Session '27 fees are $452 per unit.*

Spring Financial Aid May Help Cover Winter Session!

Additional financial aid types* can now be applied to the cost of Winter Session classes, and Winter Session units will count toward your spring term aid budget.

* State University Grants are not available for Winter Session.

Winter Session Grants

A $750 Winter Grant may be available if you have enough remaining need to qualify for the full grant amount. Winter Grants are not prorated; students will either receive the full grant or will not be eligible for a grant. If the amount owed after Financial Aid is applied is less than the grant award of $750, you will not be eligible for a PCE Winter Grant. To be considered, you must:

  • Be an admitted Chico State student (including spring '27 admits)
  • Submit a grant application
  • Have a '26-'27 financial aid application on file
  • Have an SAI of $12,500 or less
  • Be enrolled in 3 or more units in Winter Session

Grant funds are limited. Only one grant may be awarded per student.

Recently Admitted & Starting in Spring 2027?

If you are a new Chico State undergraduate or a graduate student admitted or readmitted for spring 2027, submit a registration request and payment through PCE*REG, the Professional & Continuing Education registration site. If you receive a grant, you will be reimbursed for the difference. 

Grant Applications Open October 26

  1. Register for a Winter Session class.
  2. Complete the online application form.
  3. Financial Aid will confirm your eligibility
  4. Professional & Continuing Education will email you your grant status.
  5. After you've been notified, pay fees due to complete your class registration by the payment deadline of December 10.

 

Important Notes:

  • Only one grant may be awarded per student.
  • Winter Session is now eligible for financial aid. If you receive financial aid for Winter Session, it will be applied first. The PCE Winter Grant may be available if you still have enough remaining need to qualify for the full grant amount. Winter Grants are not prorated; students will either receive the full grant or will not be eligible for a grant.
  • Grants are not pro-rated based on need after fincaial aid award applies. 
  • Winter Session Grants apply only to Winter Session per-unit fees and may not be used toward past debts, spring fees, etc.
  • Students enrolled in a special session program or who have fees paid by a third party (e.g., Department of Rehabilitation or VA Benefits) are not eligible for PCE grants.
  • Registration requests are not complete until fees are paid. However, if you have applied for a Winter Session Grant, please wait until you have been notified of your application status to determine fees owed and make your fee payment.

     
* The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after fees are initially charged or initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees. All listed fees, other than mandatory systemwide fees, are subject to change without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor, or the Presidents, as appropriate. Changes in mandatory system-wide fees will be made in accordance with the requirements of the Working Families Student Fee Transparency and Accountability Act (Sections 66028 - 66028.6 of the Education Code).
