The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSU, Chico has unveiled its summer term class schedule. Culture and creativity feature heavily in the summer offerings, which include a new Local Theatre Club, the 2nd Annual OLLI Play Festival, Art Journaling, Creating Your Own Cartoon Characters, Movies at the Pageant Theatre, and Tuesday Tunes. Two local museums are also featured. Pat Macias, President of monca – Museum of Northern California Art – will lead “Four Mysteries of a Museum,” and Adrienne Scott, Curator of Education of the Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology, will lead “Anthropology Camp: Think Like a Curator.”

This summer’s schedule also features a special bus trip to the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento to view the “Andy Warhol: Portraits” exhibit showcasing Warhol’s lifelong fascination with celebrity and the art of portraiture. In preparation for the Crocker’s special exhibition, local artist and retired CSU, Chico art history professor Dolores Mitchell will give an introduction to the art of Andy Warhol and discuss highlights of the Crocker Art Museum’s permanent collection.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute members pursue learning for pure pleasure, with no tests, no grades, and no age cap. The motto is Where Learning Never Retires and the OLLI experience proves it. A member-led organization of more than 1100 people is committed to the concept that mature adults learn best when they are active in their own learning.  Students who wish to become more involved can propose topics for new courses, facilitate study groups, volunteer as weekly discussion leaders, or serve on any one of a number of committees.
