Beginning next week, representatives from the CSU, Chico North State Initiative Task Force will begin visiting the 12 counties in the University’s service area for a series of informal conversations to explore ways to strengthen the North State. CSU, Chico serves the largest area of any CSU campus: 12 counties, 32,000 square miles, about 21 percent of the state—much of it rural.

But that’s exactly what he’ll do on Wednesday, October 10, when he introduces Dr. Kate McCarthy, tenured professor of Comparative Religion and Humanities at CSU, Chico and keynote speaker for OLLI’s Fall Program.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSU, Chico is expanding its program to Oroville in the spring. Lynndee Caput, a community volunteer, has been instrumental in recruiting members of the community to establish an OLLI presence in Oroville. A second planning session is open to the public and set for 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Oroville Branch Library Conference Room. All interested in participating are encouraged to attend.

CHICO - The fall semester brings new leadership to the campus’s center for lifelong learners as Ann Nikolai is named the new Program Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSU, Chico. Ann replaces Linda MacMichael who is retiring after eight years of service with the organization.

TEDGlobal’s “Radical Openness” theme this year is designed to explore some questions in this journey — with radical thinkers and an open approach to the boundless inventiveness of the human mind.
