If you are age 60 and over you can register to take a scheduled Chico State semester course on a non-credit, space-available basis through the permission of the professor.

You may attend any number of classes in a given semester for a $60 fee and it includes eligibility for a library card and an email account.

OLLI Announces Summer Lecture Series

OLLI LogoThe Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), celebrating 25 years at CSU, Chico is now taking reservations for its first Summer Lecture Series featuring community experts in art, psychology, theology, financial health, and communication. Attendees can sign up for individual lectures or series of topics.

This fall OLLI offers more than 50 peer-led classes ranging from American Wars to World of Opera, where you can explore new topics, discuss current events, and network with talented and interesting people. Fall class registration is now open. You can register online, by mail, or in person at the OLLI office.

CHICO - The fall semester brings new leadership to the campus’s center for lifelong learners as Ann Nikolai is named the new Program Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSU, Chico.  Ann replaces Linda MacMichael who is retiring after eight years of service with the organization.

CSU, Chico Awarded $1 Million Endowment For Osher Reentry Scholarship Program


CHICO, CA  The Bernard Osher Foundation has awarded a $1 million endowment to CSU, Chico Regional & Continuing Education to provide scholarships for reentry students whose studies were interrupted for at least five years by circumstances beyond their control, and who now want to resume their studies at CSU, Chico.  These students enter a wide range of degree programs in fields such as engineering, nursing, social work, and communications.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Receives $1 Million Grant To Establish Endowment
We are happy to announce that The Bernard Osher Foundation has approved a $1 million endowment for California State University, Chico’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI).

The foundation has also approved a $50,000 bridge grant award to sustain the program until earnings from the endowment are able to support the program in perpetuity. In 2004, CSU, Chico applied for and received a $100,000 Osher grant, which was followed by two $100,000 grants in successive years.

CSU, Chico Osher Reentry Student Scholarships Now Available

We have some great news!

Thanks to the generous support from the Bernard Osher Foundation, we will be offering Osher Reentry Scholarships beginning in the Fall. These scholarships are intended for students whose studies at a four-year campus were interrupted at least five years ago by circumstances beyond their control and who plan to resume and complete their university studies. The deadline is 5PM, May 16, 2007.

The Bernard Osher Foundation recently awarded CSU, Chico Center for Regional and Continuing Education a $100,000 grant to fund the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Chico State. This grant marks the third year of successful funding.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), offers adults aged 60 and older, or retired, an opportunity to take peer-led classes, and participate in the University community. The OLLI program currently has 530 active members and features over 30 classes each semester.
CSU Chico is among a network of over 90 Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes at colleges and universities throughout the United States.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is a peer-led, learning in retirement organization that offers a wide variety of special classes.

We hope you can join us for the Spring Welcome Back Reception for all new and continuing OLLI participants.

The Spring Welcome Back Reception will be held January 17, 2007 from 10 am to noon at the Chico Masonic Family Center, 1110 W. East Avenue, Chico.

ElderCollege Orientation Thursday Jan. 11

ElderCollege Orientation for Spring semester is scheduled for Thursday, January 11, 2007. The presentation begins at 10 am in the Continuing Education classroom on campus.
ElderCollege allows individuals, 60 and older, to attend University courses on a non-credit, guest basis for a nominal fee, with the permission of the instructor.
