Summer 2024 Special Session: June 3-Aug 20

Description

Prerequisites: ABUS 311 or faculty permission.

Class Notes

This course provides students with an opportunity to gain hands-on, project-driven experience in a unique international business environment. Students will expand their understanding of global agri-food supply chains (production, distribution, marketing) by completing company visits and engaging in applied case studies with regional food and wine businesses. Students will explore the agri-food system and culture of Spain, comparing and contrasting (through written reflections) what they see and learn with what they know from their experience in the United States. By the end of the course, students will be able to: compare/contrast US and Spanish agri-food systems at different levels of the supply chain (e.g, production, processing, distribution, marketing); describe how Spain's geography, climate, and culture influence it's agri-food system; think critically about how culture and context determine how foods are sold and marketed. Students will engage with industry professionals, the course instructor, and guest speakers to produce several project deliverables throughout the program.
