Becoming Who You Want to Be Class Topics

Class 1: January 5

Who are you and how did you get to be the way you are? In this class we’ll look at the developing you, your experiences, and how you scientifically became the person you are now. We’ll explore how your brain evolved to the point of where it is now and how, even when there are things you’d like to change about yourself; it’s so difficult to do so.

Class 2: January 12

There are a variety of techniques that have been developed to help you change something about yourself—gyms to tone up your muscles, Weight Watchers for your diet, 12-step programs for addictions, psychological or spiritual counseling for issues and problems. What works? Is will power enough? How does your brain need to change so that whatever you do really does work? Here we’ll explore what happens in the brain and it’s various parts. Then we’ll talk about how meditation and mindfulness are used effectively.

Class 3: January 19

This session will go more deeply into meditation techniques, how and why they actually can change your brain and your thinking so that old, damaging thoughts can be released. Here we’ll move from survival to creation. Once the brain has made changes and the body has accepted those changes, a new mind can begin to develop.

Class 4: January 26

In the last class of the session we’ll use all the tools we’ve gained so far to release those old thought patterns with a focus on replacing them with new ones. This class focuses on creating a new future and practicing that new future in both thought and emotion. Student will leave the four sessions with tools they can use and re-use to move through some of the areas in their lives that they’d like to see differently.
