Program for California Teachers Offers High Quality, Low Cost Professional Development Credit

National Humanities CenterResearch Triangle Park, NC and Chico, CA  A new partnership between the National Humanities Center (NHC) and the Center for Regional & Continuing Education at California State University, Chico (CSU, Chico) provides California K-12 teachers the opportunity to earn university credits for completing online professional development seminars from the NHC. The National Humanities Center is the only major independent American institute for advanced study in all fields of the humanities. It is distinctive in its commitment to linking scholarship to improved teaching and providing teachers with new materials and instructional strategies to make them more effective in the classroom and rekindle their enthusiasm for the subjects they teach.

Summer Reading Programs for All Ages

From letter recognition to reading comprehension, from to study skills to building reading speed, The Institute of Reading Development’s Summer Reading Programs help students of all ages read with confidence, excitement and results. Eight programs provide elementary through high school students, college students, and adults with targeted goals, curricula, classroom activities and study assignments. As a result of reading faster and smarter, students find reading more enjoyable and rewarding, and leave the program motivated to read more.

New Online Resources for Students & Faculty Advisors

The Center for Regional & Continuing Education is pleased to introduce CSU, Chico Career Center Forums, a series of presentations delivered in an online format. Presented by Career Center Advisors, the five archived, video-streamed Forums cover topics such as using social networking to find a career; professional etiquette; building an effective resume; getting into graduate school; and strategic interview techniques. The online delivery system allows users to access the materials at their convenience and to review the presentation multiple times.

Summer Session 2010 Registration & Financial Aid Update

Summer Session will be mostly self-support this year. More than 150 classes are scheduled in four-week and six-week sessions and summer-long between June 1-August 17. Registration opens April 5, and financial aid is available for students who qualify. Continuing Chico State students can enroll via the Portal or through Continuing Education. Fees are due at the time of registration. Students who anticipate financial aid must submit a Summer Aid application to FASO by April 30. Questions about Summer Session?
