Program for California Teachers Offers High Quality, Low Cost Professional Development Credit

National Humanities CenterResearch Triangle Park, NC and Chico, CA  A new partnership between the National Humanities Center (NHC) and the Center for Regional & Continuing Education at California State University, Chico (CSU, Chico) provides California K-12 teachers the opportunity to earn university credits for completing online professional development seminars from the NHC. The National Humanities Center is the only major independent American institute for advanced study in all fields of the humanities. It is distinctive in its commitment to linking scholarship to improved teaching and providing teachers with new materials and instructional strategies to make them more effective in the classroom and rekindle their enthusiasm for the subjects they teach.

After School Conference - July 27-29 on the Chico State campus

In collaboration with Butte County Office of Education, and Region 2 Learning Support After School Programs, CSU, Chico Continuing Education will host After School: Start Your Engines - After School Professional Development Institute Conference, July 27-29, 2009 on the CSU, Chico campus.

We've Extended the Deadline for our Leadership Development Program - Starts March 12-13

Early Enrollment Deadline Extended!
As you know the California State budget is still being finalized and we recognize that this effects many (if not all) of the participants and potential participants in the Local Government Leadership Institute. In an effort to increase enrollment, we are extending the early registration deadline for the program until March 6, 2009. The program will officially start on March 12-13 rather than February 12-13. The remaining program sessions will remain the same. Leadership education and development in Local Government is more relevant now than ever before. After School Professional Development Conference Starts July 28

In collaboration with Butte County Office of Education, and Region 2 Learning Support, California State University, Chico Center for Regional and Continuing Education will host Stepping Up To The Plate - After School Program Professional Development Institute, July 28 - August 1, 2008 on the CSU, Chico campus. The conference will provide K-8 after school program paraprofessionals, coordinators, and teaching staff the opportunity to explore ways to develop and improve their programs, facilitate experiential learning and promote a positive after school environment.

CELT Conference Starts Wednesday

Join us for the 13th Annual Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) Conference starting Wednesday, October 10 through Friday, October 12. All conference participants are cordially invited to attend the CELT Conference Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, October 10.
