Children in Trauma Conference - January 11-12, 2008

We are happy to announce that Victor Carrion, MD, Director, Stanford Early Life Stress Research Program will host our 6th Annual Children in Trauma Conference January 11-12 on the Chico campus.

Dr. Carrion will present “Helping Children Survive Trauma: Early Life Stress, Brain Development and Effective Interventions”.

12 hours of continuing education will be available.

CELT Conference Starts Wednesday

Join us for the 13th Annual Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) Conference starting Wednesday, October 10 through Friday, October 12. All conference participants are cordially invited to attend the CELT Conference Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, October 10.

Manuel Pastor, Professor of Geography and American Studies & Ethnicity, University of Southern California, will present the keynote “Public or Perish: Engaged Scholarship, Community Connections and the Future of the Academy” and we will honor Outstanding Teacher Kimihiko Nomura (FLNG) and Outstanding Academic Advisor Maria Gonzalez (FLNG).

Chico State Welcomes After School Conference Attendees

You may have noticed conference “badge wearers” around the University and downtown. More than 145 attendees for Leading the Frontier: After School Program Professional Development Institute are on campus participating in the five day conference. The sessions, cover a wide variety of topics, ranging from dance to administrative leadership, are designed to help educators build and improve their after-school programs for children.

Chico Conference & Event Management Sustainability Featured in e-Communique

Over the last several years, conferences hosted on campus have been managed to minimize resources and reduce waste. As a result of this success, Chico is quickly becoming the national example of conference sustainability practices.

Heather Quilici and Clare Roby have recently highlighted these practices in The Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors International magazine e-Communique.

Localization Professionals Meet in Chico

Localization professionals from around the world are meeting in Chico this week to participate in the Localization Certification Program. “It’s been a great experience to showcase the current tools and get a chance to chat with old friends and meet new colleagues,” mentioned Professor Nitish Singh, Director of CSU, Chico Localization Program. The program continues tomorrow with the Localization Project Management Certification sessions.
