2011 Annual California Indian Conference to Celebrate ‘Sustaining the Circle of Knowledge’

The 2011 Annual California Indian Conference will be held Oct. 27-30 on the California State University, Chico campus. The theme of this year’s conference is “Sustaining the Circle of Knowledge.” There will be a wide diversity of presentations, workshops and performances, along with a number of special events, including a California Native basketry exhibit and master weavers demonstration at the Chico Museum, a Native fine art display at the Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology, an opportunity to tour the California State Indian Museum in Sacramento and a tour of the campus arboretum led by biologist Wes Dempsey.

4th Annual After School Professional Development Institute a Whoopin’-Hollerin’ Success

2010 After SchoolMore than 170 Northern California after school program teachers, staff members, program coordinators, and administrators assembled on the CSU, Chico campus from July 26-28 for the 2010 After School Professional Development Institute.

Summer Reading Programs for All Ages

From letter recognition to reading comprehension, from to study skills to building reading speed, The Institute of Reading Development’s Summer Reading Programs help students of all ages read with confidence, excitement and results. Eight programs provide elementary through high school students, college students, and adults with targeted goals, curricula, classroom activities and study assignments. As a result of reading faster and smarter, students find reading more enjoyable and rewarding, and leave the program motivated to read more.

Localization, San Francisco CA, March 22

The first of three 2010 on-site localization training workshops begins March 22, 2010, in San Francisco, CA.  The Localization Certification Program runs March 22-24.  Daily topics include localization management, localizing a project theory to practice, and frontiers of localization.  The localization project management program runs March 25-26.  Daily topics include managing localization projects and localizing project management tools.  The workshops will be held in the heart of downtown San Francisco.  Join us to learn, explore, and be delighted by the City on the Bay!  For more information visit: rce.csuchico.edu/localize.

Enrollment Now Open for the 2010 Localization Certification Program and Localization Project Management Certification

In partnership with The Localization Institute, California State University, Chico Center for Regional and Continuing Education announces that enrollment is now open for the Localization Certification Program and Localization Project Management Certification. Established in 2006, the Localization Certification Program was developed by industry experts, representing the leading professional associations, publishers, and academic institutions, under the leadership of Professor Nitish Singh. The program was created in response to the growing demand from localization and international marketing professionals for industry-focused localization training. More than 355 participants from 35 countries have now received certification through the program.

GRE Preparation Workshop

Taking the GRE? Learn how to maximize your test-taking potential! The workshop will be held on Saturdays between September 26th and October 17th, 2009. This workshop emphasizes analyzing and reviewing each of the sections: quantitative reasoning; verbal reasoning (antonyms, analogies, sentence completion and reading comprehension); and the analytical writing assessment. A short review of mathematics is also included. The books included in the course fee are Cliffs Test Prep GRE General Test Guide and Cliffs Math Review for Standardized Tests by Jerry Bobrow. SAT Preparation Course

Be prepared for the November 7th SAT exam! A 2 part preparation workshop is being conducted Saturday October 24th and 31st, 2009. This workshop is designed to prepare students for the SAT by reviewing all of the question types, including the new writing sections (essay and multiple choice). Half of the class will focus on math (with the enhanced math question types also covered), and the other half will cover Critical Reading, Sentence Completion, and the Writing sections (essay and multiple choice). The classes are taught by credentialed teachers who specialize in mathematics or English. The book included in the course fee is Cliffs Test Prep, The New SAT Preparation Guide by Jerry Bobrow. In collaboration with Butte County Office of Education, and Region 2 Learning Support After School Programs, CSU, Chico Continuing Education will host After School: Start Your Engines - After School Professional Development Institute Conference, July 27-29, 2009 on the CSU, Chico campus.

CSU, Chico to Host the California Invasive Plant Council's 17th Annual Symposium

CSU, Chico is proud to host the California Invasive Plant Council’s 17th Annual Symposium, October 2-4, 2008 on the Chico State campus. The California Invasive Plant Council (Cal-IPC) Symposium is expected to draw more than 300 invited scholars, scientists, land management professionals, and students to Chico. The Symposium will consist of a full schedule of academic, poster, and discussion sessions supported by exhibits, field trips and networking opportunities for the participants.
