The Bernard Osher Foundation Supports Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at CSU, Chico and Student Scholarships

The Bernard Osher Foundation recently awarded CSU, Chico Center for Regional and Continuing Education a $100,000 grant to fund the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Chico State. This grant marks the third year of successful funding.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), offers adults aged 60 and older, or retired, an opportunity to take peer-led classes, and participate in the University community. The OLLI program currently has 530 active members and features over 30 classes each semester.

CSU Chico is among a network of over 90 Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes at colleges and universities throughout the United States.

In addition to the program grant, The Bernard Osher Foundation approved a recent proposal for scholarship support for reentry students. The Foundation will grant $50,000 for scholarships for future Chico State students whose studies at a four-year campus were interrupted at least five years ago by circumstances beyond their control and who now want to resume their university studies.

This funding follows an OLLI-member fundraising effort that currently supports three scholarships for reentry students at the University.

The Bernard Osher Foundation was founded in 1977 by Bernard Osher, a respected businessman and community leader. The Foundation seeks to improve quality of life through the support of post-secondary scholarships, lifelong learning institutes and integrative medicine programs.

For more information about the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Chico State please visit http://rce.csuchico.edu/osher, or call, 530-898-6679. Student scholarship information is posted at http://rce.csuchico.edu/osherscholarships .
