CHOOSE CHICO AS YOUR PLTW DESTINATION
The City of Chico is located 90 miles north of Sacramento in the northern end of the lush Sacramento Valley. With an urban population of just over 100,000, Chico has the charm of a small town, with all the amenities of a big city. Downtown Chico is within a block of campus and offers a wide variety of shopping, dining, and cultural experiences. Bidwell Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the country at 3,670 acres, stretches nearly 11 miles from campus east into the foothills and provides year-round recreation activities.
HIGH-QUALITY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
In 2014, Project Lead The Way trained more than 6,000 teachers using its rigorous approach. PLTW’s three-phase professional development model focuses on preparing teachers with the professional skills necessary to get students engaged in learning the STEM disciplines and focused on seeking solutions. Training is conducted in partnership with more than 50 colleges, universities, and other institutions.
Solving America’s workforce skills gap takes commitment from the public and private sectors. Project Lead The Way is creating outstanding partnerships with leading corporations, philanthropic organizations, and educational institutions, such as Chico State. PLTW has alliances with nearly 100 leading corporations like Chevron, Lockheed Martin, Autodesk, and many others.
