ALCI will provide free pick-up from the airport if you arrive at the Chico Municipal Airport between 8am and 8pm PST (Pacific Standard Time) on Monday through Wednesday during orientation week. Traveling in Chico
It’s easy to get around Chico. Walking and bicycling are the most popular ways to get around for students who live near campus.

Walking:
You will find shopping, restaurants, and entertainment all near campus. The huge city park and a swimming area are also nearby.

Bicycling:
Chico is known as a “bike town.” New and used bicycles are readily available and there are many great bike shops. You can buy a simple bicycle for about $150.

Chico has special bike lanes on many of the main roads. If you bring your bike to campus you must register it with University Police.
No license is required for riding a bicycle in California, but rules do apply. You can find bicycling rules at http://www.dmv.ca.gov/about/bicycle.htm.

The Chico Velo Cycling Club site contains many useful resources for local cyclists.

Buses
Students can ride the bus for free during the school year. CATS (Chico Area Transit System) is the bus system in Chico. Rates, maps and routes are available at http://www.bcag.org/transit/cats.htm

Driving
You don’t need a car to get around Chico. If you choose to get a car, you will first need to get a driver’s license. The Department of Motor Vehicles issues driver’s licenses.
