About the Program:

This course is designed to provide undergraduate/graduate students with a four week international learning opportunity to have an international experience aimed at stimulating and expanding students’ perspectives in cross-cultural and cross-national human services systems. It will encourage students to experience, first hand, new international and cross-cultural learning in a variety of human service settings. The focus will be on the application of knowledge, values, and skills, and the problem-solving process to human services policy, programs/services, and practices. The course content will view the impact of gender, culture, ethnicity, economic status, sexual orientation, religion/spirituality, age, generation, and ability across the lifespan on human service issues. Students may opt to enroll in either an undergraduate or graduate elective course in the Social Work program.

Program Fees:

Program fee of $2,295 includes:

  • 25 days of lodging and meals
  • Ground transportation in South Korea
  • Field trips and related course activities
  • Instruction, supervision at service learning sites
  • Translation services
  • Foreign travel health insurance
  • Pre-departure and in-country orientations

No textbooks are required for the program. Readings and other course materials will be provided online. Personal expenses and airfare are additional.

Academic Credit (Optional)

Participants in the non-credit field school may opt to earn four units of academic credit by enrolling in ANTH 280 Field Archaeology, ANTH 380 Field Archaeology, or ANTH 480 Advanced Field Archaeology for an additional fee of $240.

Students may choose to receive academic credit by enrolling in one of the following courses:

SWRK 498 (4 units, undergraduate)
SWRK 698 (4 units, graduate)

CSU, Chico Special Session fees are $60 per unit / $240 per course, and are paid in addition to the program fees.

Application and $500 deposit due.

Students will be informed via email of their acceptance.

Monday, April 20, 2015
Flight confirmation (paper ticket or e-ticket) and photocopy of passport due to Continuing Education.
 
Monday, April 20, 2015
$1,795 final program fee payment due plus $240 for 4 units (optional).
