The CSU, Chico Office of the Provost and the Council of Academic Deans invite students, faculty, staff, and the community to the 2014 Spring Student Showcase. This is your chance to explore a wide range of research, artwork, design, music, and theatrical performances representing the achievements and creativity of our students from across campus.

Wednesday, April 16 6pm-9pm Performing Arts Center 134 | 24th Annual College of Humanities & Fine Arts SymposiumGraduate students, honors students, and outstanding undergraduates present their research and creative projects at the annual HFA Symposium. Topics are drawn from art history, literature, theatre, creative writing, history, and more. The event kicks off at 6pm with a welcome by Dean Robert Knight and a keynote address by Professor Kate McCarthy from the Department of Comparative Religion and Humanities. The first concurrent sessions take place from 6:30pm-7:30pm, followed by the second group from 7:40pm-8:40 pm. A reception follows. |

First Year Experience Town Hall MeetingThe bi-annual CSU, Chico Town Hall Meeting provides students with a public arena for discussing current policy issues with other students, faculty, administrators, and community members. Assessments of student learning and attitudes in classes that embed the Town Hall indicate that students become more engaged scholars and gain confidence about their capacity to do meaningful work at the university when they have this opportunity to share their research in public dialogues with interested others. | |
Wednesday, April 23 5:30pm-8pm BMU Auditorium | 13th Annual College of Behavioral & Social Sciences Student Research SymposiumThe Student Symposium is an annual celebration that recognizes outstanding student scholarship in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. This event showcases the diversity and sophistication of research conducted by undergraduate and graduate students in the college. In concurrent poster and oral presentations, students will present on topics researched in one of their courses or as part of a research project sponsored by one or more BSS faculty. Attendees are invited to attend a reception in the BMU Auditorium from 7pm-8pm. A program, including presentation abstracts, room locations and times, will be available online by mid April. |

| 19th Juried Student Print Exhibition & 12th Ink /ClayCelebrating student achievement in art making, this exhibition honors our founder's use of the collection as inspiration and education. Wednesday, April 30 9am-7:30pm Colusa Hall 100 | College of Natural Sciences Poster Session & People's Choice AwardsEvery year the College of Natural Sciences hosts a Poster Session highlighting the amazing research that faculty and students perform throughout the year. In past years, upwards of 90 abstracts have been submitted, making this event the showcase for original research done in our College. Campus faculty, staff, and students, as well as community members, including K-12 students, are invited to view the posters until 6:30pm. Following will be an awards ceremony and refreshments. Visitors may come at any time during the day, starting at 9am, or for just for the evening portion of the event. Poster presenters will be at their posters from 5:30pm-7pm. |

May 2-3 CSU East Bay | The 28th Annual CSU Statewide Student Research CompetitionOn March 5, forty-three Chico State students competed for one of ten spots at the annual statewide competition that promotes excellence in undergraduate and graduate scholarly research and creative activity by recognizing outstanding student accomplishments. Ten undergraduate and graduate students from each campus will present their research proposals in sessions grouped by disciplines in front of a panel of expert judges. The winning students in each session will receive cash prizes. We wish our Wildcats the best of luck at the competition! |
