“I remember her coming ba ck home with homework and I thought, ‘If I’m helping her, maybe I should be in school’,” Caravez said.
The Bernard Osher Foundation has awarded California State University, Chico a second $1 million endowment for its Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). The announcement was made by CSU, Chico President Paul Zingg, Wednesday during OLLI’s annual holiday luncheon.
Reentry Students Invited to Apply for $50k in Osher
California State University, Chico Regional and Continuing Education invites reentry students to apply for $50,000 in scholarships from the Bernard Osher Foundation.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSU, Chico is excited to announce spring class line up at a pair of Open House & Class Preview events in Chico and Oroville. Hear from OLLI peer leaders about class content for more than 85 courses ranging from arts and literature, history, banking, social issues and current events to science, meditation, foreign languages, birding, walking, and special interest groups.
OLLI at CSU, Chico Keeps Lifelong Learners Sharp
It’s the time of year for making New Year resolutions. Unfortunately, we all know how those typically turn out. Within a week, or even 24 hours, we’ve abandoned goals to get fit, master a skill, save money, or volunteer to help others. Old habits are hard to break and creating new ones can take much time and effort.
CHICO, CA — The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSU, Chico has been awarded a $50,000 operating grant by The Bernard Osher Foundation. OLLI at CSU, Chico was invited to apply for the grant after demonstrating significant progress over the past year toward improving fiscal stability, increasing volunteer participation, and expanding campus and community partnerships.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), celebrating 25 years at CSU, Chico is now taking reservations for its first Summer Lecture Series featuring community experts in art, psychology, theology, financial health, and communication. Attendees can sign up for individual lectures or series of topics.

The application period for the Bernard Osher Foundation Reentry Scholarship in now open.
Scholarships are awarded to reentry students whose studies were interrupted for at least five years by circumstances beyond their control, and who now want to resume their studies at CSU, Chico. The deadline for scholarship applications is Monday, May 13, 2013, 5:00 p.m. Scholarship details and an online application are available at: rce.csuchico.edu/osherscholarship.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSU, Chico is expanding its program to Oroville in the spring. Lynndee Caput, a community volunteer, has been instrumental in recruiting members of the community to establish an OLLI presence in Oroville. A second planning session is open to the public and set for 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Oroville Branch Library Conference Room. All interested in participating are encouraged to attend.

CHICO - The fall semester brings new leadership to the campus’s center for lifelong learners as Ann Nikolai is named the new Program Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSU, Chico. Ann replaces Linda MacMichael who is retiring after eight years of service with the organization.
