Students apply for admission to a degree program and to the University on the Cal State Apply website. (The application period for fall 2018 ended November 30, 2017.)

The BA in Liberal Studies is the undergraduate degree program for students who wish to go on to a credential program to become multiple-subject, K-12 teachers. The Liberal Studies Department views learning as a transformative, socially interactive process. Engagement in this process requires critical intellectual inquiry, reflection, collaboration, and the exploration of the interconnectedness and relationships among the disciplines, society, and our own humanity.

Career & Life Planning Certificate Program

Description: Training for national certification by the National Career Development Association (NCDA) is provided through nine semester units of coursework provided either online or on campus by the Social Science Department at California State University, Chico.

BA in Liberal Studies

Description: The California State University, Chico Liberal Studies Online program is a web-based undergraduate degree completion program for those working toward a baccalaureate in liberal studies and who wish to eventually earn a California multiple-subject elementary teaching credential. Sixty (60) upper division units are offered. Students may take a portion of their lower-division work at a community college, at a CSU campus or online program, or at another accredited four-year college or university.
