Bridges of Understanding

Bridges are connections. They are a symbol for a destination, for progress, for transition on the path of life. Some bridges may be difficult to walk over. Some may take longer than others to cross. Some are worth lingering on. But only while on the bridge will you be able to observe both sides—where you came from and where you’re headed.

Delight in the Details

As we reflect on the new year and what 2015 will bring, we find ourselves contemplating the importance of being present, cherishing each moment, and discovering the beauty in the details that surround us. Often we rush from place to place, our brains filing away what just happened and preparing for the next task at hand. Focused inward, we fail to notice, to truly see, what makes our campus home so wondrous.

And so we decided to slow down and capture some of these, and hope that you, too, will delight in the details.

Silhouettes at Dawn on the Chico State Campus

The beauty of the land that John Bidwell encountered led him to establish Rancho Chico and later donate eight acres of orchard land for the Normal School that is now California State University, Chico. As Chico State celebrates 125 years of service as a distinguished institution of higher education, its beautiful campus and its buildings remain a source of pride and enjoyment for all who study, work, and live here.
