Description

Digital mapping, location based services, geo-tracking, and online social networks are critically examined in terms of geographic representation, geographic inquiry, individual privacy, equity, and social justice. An experiential course that develops skills in critical geospatial thinking through inquiry into and analysis of evolving geospatial technologies (e.g. geographic information systems, global positioning systems, and satellite imagery); and explores their impact on the individual and society as they pertain to social and earth science phenomena. An examination of the role of critical geospatial thinking in daily life and scientific pursuits.
