Lifelong Learning Organization Awarded $50,000 Grant

OLLI Chico LogoCHICO, CA — The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSU, Chico has been awarded a $50,000 operating grant by The Bernard Osher Foundation. OLLI at CSU, Chico was invited to apply for the grant after demonstrating significant progress over the past year toward improving fiscal stability, increasing volunteer participation, and expanding campus and community partnerships.

CSU, Chico Regional & Continuing Education Wins Gold in National Marketing Competition

The CSU, Chico Regional & Continuing Education marketing team received a top award in the 2012 University Professional & Continuing Education Association (UPECA) Marketing Awards. Awards were announced at the 21st annual UPCEA National Marketing Awards, held in New Orleans Nov. 7-9. The awards recognize the best of marketing and promotion in the field of professional, continuing and online education, and span a number of categories ranging from entire campaigns to individual media. There were over 249 submissions from 53 institutions.

2011 Annual California Indian Conference to Celebrate ‘Sustaining the Circle of Knowledge’

The 2011 Annual California Indian Conference will be held Oct. 27-30 on the California State University, Chico campus. The theme of this year’s conference is “Sustaining the Circle of Knowledge.” There will be a wide diversity of presentations, workshops and performances, along with a number of special events, including a California Native basketry exhibit and master weavers demonstration at the Chico Museum, a Native fine art display at the Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology, an opportunity to tour the California State Indian Museum in Sacramento and a tour of the campus arboretum led by biologist Wes Dempsey.

Chico BagToronto, Canada and Chico, CA  The CSU, Chico Regional & Continuing Education team took home two awards at the 96th annual University Professional & Continuing Education Association (UPECA) Awards held in Toronto. The awards recognize the best of marketing and promotional pieces in the field of professional, continuing, and online education and were given in a number of categories, ranging from entire campaigns to individual media. Continuing Education took gold in the collateral material category, and a bronze award in print pieces. Both awards won for colleges with fewer than 25,000 enrollees.

CSU, Chico Once Again Ranked Sixth Among Western Public Universities by U.S. News

California State University, Chico is ranked sixth among regional public universities in the Western United States in the 2011 edition of “America’s Best Colleges” from U.S. News & World Report magazine. U.S. News & World Report’s regional category, known as master’s level last year, includes universities that offer undergraduate and master’s programs but few doctoral programs.
