Osher Foundation Reentry Scholarship Application Period is Now Open

Reentry Students Invited to Apply for $50k in Osher
Reentry Scholarships

California State University, Chico Regional and Continuing Education invites reentry students to apply for $50,000 in scholarships from the Bernard Osher Foundation.

Scholarships are awarded to reentry students whose studies were interrupted for at least five years by circumstances beyond their control, and who now want to resume their undergraduate studies at CSU, Chico. The deadline for scholarship applications is Monday, May 19, 5:00 p.m. Scholarship details and an online application are available at:

This is the eighth consecutive year that the Osher Foundation has supported this scholarship program at CSU, Chico. For the 2013-2014 academic year, 21 students were awarded a Bernard Osher Foundation Reentry Scholarship. In the last seven years, CSU, Chico Continuing Education has administered and distributed $352,000 in Bernard Osher Foundation Reentry Scholarships to 72 CSU, Chico students. In July 2010, the Bernard Osher Foundation awarded CSU, Chico Continuing Education a $1 million scholarship endowment to support reentry students.

The CSU, Chico Osher Reentry Scholarship endowment provides this annual opportunity to reward eligible reentry students for their determination in completing their University degrees. This commencement we will once again celebrate and congratulate our current recipients as they graduate and join our community of alumni. The Bernard Osher Foundation, headquartered in San Francisco, was founded in 1977 by Bernard Osher, a respected businessman and community leader. The foundation seeks to improve quality of life through the support of post-secondary scholarships, lifelong learning institutes and integrative medicine programs. There are currently 117 universities and colleges in all 50 states and the District of Columbia that receive scholarship funding from the Osher Reentry Scholarship Program.

In addition to the CSU, Chico Osher Reentry Scholarship endowment, the Bernard Osher Foundation also supports the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) on campus. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is a peer-led, learning in retirement organization that offers more than 200 non-credit classes and activities for adults in the region.
