About the Professional MBA:
California State University, Chico College of Business offers a Professional Master of Business Administration, designed especially for the working professional.

Offered on Saturdays, in an accelerated two-year schedule, the CSU, Chico Professional MBA program provides access to the only Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International accredited MBA in the region.

Courses are offered in Redding and Chico. Cohorts are scheduled every two years. The next cohort will start August 2009.

While many participants have undergraduate degrees in business, the program attracts professionals from many disciplines. The degree is granted by CSU, Chico as a Master of Business Administration and maintains the same rigor and accreditation standards as the MBA taught during the academic year on the Chico campus.

Classes are delivered through two-way video teleconferencing originating from the Chico campus and Shasta College (the professor presents live, on-site, and alternates each week between Chico and Shasta College).

Professional MBA Program Goal

The goal of the CSU, Chico Professional MBA program is to deliver a high quality graduate program that will prepare participants for managerial success in the ever-changing international marketplace. The curriculum is focused on the real-world application of theory and best business practices to give candidates the knowledge and skills required to proactively manage both small and large enterprises.

Students will work together with the MBA faculty as a cohort and proceed through the courses together as a group. The cohort model helps create a community of learning and acts as a foundation for future professional networking. Students will have direct access to contemporary enterprise management tools and faculty known for their professional and scholarly contributions to the field of business.

Schedule

Courses in the two-year, 30-unit MBA program will be scheduled in an accelerated, year-round Saturday format. Courses are taught sequentially, meeting eight times over a period of nine weeks.

Course Fees and Program Financing

Current course fees are $1,650 per 3 unit course.

Participants may be eligible for financial assistance through private student loan programs. For more information contact CSU, Chico Financial Aid at http://www.csuchico.edu/fa or call 530-898-6451.

Professional MBA fees are not state-support university tuition and fees do not qualify for veteran's fee waivers or other fee waiver programs.

Be sure to ask your employer about fee reimbursement and tuition reimbursement programs. Some employers and agencies provide full or partial fee support as a benefit of employment.

MBA Course Requirements

30 units (3 units per course), of which 27 are course units and 3 units can be fulfilled by means of a directed internship. No thesis required.

Business Communications Skills for Managers (BADM 638), Decision Support Systems (BADM 610), Management Control Systems (ACCT 623), Management of People and Organizations (MGMT 635), Operations Planning and Execution (SCMS 607), Strategic Marketing (MKTG 673), Financial Management (FINA 655), Strategic Management (BADM 693), one elective (TBD), and a Directed Internship (BADM 689).

MBA classes will be delivered through live on-site lectures and two-way video teleconferencing originating from Shasta College and the Chico campus.

Normally, these prerequisites should have been completed within 7 years prior to admission into the program; however, professional business education and training and/or employment history may be considered in evaluating the currency of these prerequisites.

Equivalents of some of these prerequisites may be by pre-approved community college, university, and online courses. The Graduate Business Programs Office will review your transcripts for program admission.

*Students who intend to enter the Professional MBA program at the Redding location may take all prerequisites at Shasta College except Fin 150. Consult advisor for alternative options for the finance course.
**Students living in the Chico/Butte service area should take upper division courses at Chico State rather than Butte College.

2) Grade point average of 2.75 or better in the last 60 units completed.

3) Current Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score which demonstrates the ability to be successful in a graduate program.
