  • Sessions Scheduled: May 27 - June 30

Who Can Enroll?

May–June Intersession is a Special Session and is open to anyone who is a high school graduate or is over 18. Formal admission to the university is not required.

Special Session credit courses are approved university courses. Special Session courses meet residence requirements and may be applied toward a degree program. If you expect to complete degree or credential requirements through Special Session, you should check with your adviser regarding course applicability.

Some courses may have course prerequisites or require the approval of the professor. Please check the course descriptions of the courses you wish to enroll in as some courses have prerequisites, registration deadlines, and other important schedule details. The course descriptions are linked from the MayJune Intersession schedule linked above on this page.

Registration in the May–June Intersession does not ensure registration for, or admission to, the university, nor should it be interpreted as acceptance to any degree or credential program. If you are interested in formal admission to CSU, Chico, contact the Office of Admissions at 530-898-6321.

Enrolling to Graduate?

If you are enrolling in a May–June Intersession course to complete your degree requirements, you must file for summer graduation. May–June Intersession courses do not count toward spring graduation. Contact Evaluations, Student Services Center, room 120, at 530-898-5957 for materials and instructions.

Registration Procedures

To enroll in May–June Intersession courses, simply request your courses on the Web via this schedule link, or call 530-898-6105, or come to the Continuing Education building on campus to enroll.

Course fees of $175/unit are due at the time of registration.
Course enrollment is taken in the order the registration is received and processed.

Please note: The CSC Portal is not configured to accept May–June Intersession registration. You must register through Continuing Education. Web-based registrations are course requests only and registration is not processed in real-time. As soon as your registration is complete, a confirmation will be mailed to your mailing address.

Some May–June Intersession courses fill quickly. You are encouraged to enroll early to ensure a seat in the class. Some courses have a registration deadline specified in the course description. If enrollment is not sufficient by the registration deadline, the instructor has the option of canceling the course. If the course is not canceled, you may still be able to register after the deadline on a space available basis.

How Do Waiting Lists Work?

Due to heavy demand, some classes will close for the current term. A waiting list will then be opened by Regional and Continuing Education and maintained until the first class meeting. You may place your name on a waiting list without any obligation. For more information, see Waiting List Guidelines.

May-June Intersession Fee Schedule

Fees per unit: $175.00
Late registration (per class) $10.00
Check returned for any cause $20.00
Past due receivable fee $20.00

Miscellaneous fees or other additional costs associated with specific courses may apply. Non-resident fees do not apply to Special Session courses. All fees are subject to change based on Trustee or legislative action. The above fees are accurate at the time of publication of this schedule.

Payment of Fees

Full fees (no partial payments) are due and payable upon registration. A late registration fee of $10 per class is charged whenever fees are paid after the first day of class. For dishonored checks , a $20 service charge per dishonored item and an enrollment reservation fee of $10 per class are applicable. Any debts to the university or registration holds must be resolved before registration can take place.

Refund of Fees

Refunds are governed by the State Administrative Code and the regulations are very stringent. If you are considering dropping a class, please visit this page. The amount of refund is dependent upon when an application for refund is submitted to Continuing Education. Once a class begins, the refund for that class decreases substantially. Funds owed to you by the State of California may be withheld as payment against any unpaid obligation to the university.

If the university cancels the class, you will automatically receive a full refund if you have no other debts to the university. You may transfer to other Special Session courses of equal units without a fee penalty on or before the third day of class only.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid may be available for May–June Intersession courses. Please visit the Financial Aid and Scholarship office website at http://fa.csuchico.edu/fa/basics/summer/index.aspx

Adding/Dropping Classes

All May–June Intersession class registrations (adds) are processed through Continuing Education. A late registration fee of $10 per class is charged if fees are paid after the first day of class. If you wish to withdraw, i.e., drop before the first day of class, contact Continuing Education immediately. If you drop a course on or after the first day of class, you need to complete an Add/Drop form and, if applicable, a refund request. Add/Drop forms are available at rce.csuchico.edu/forms/AddDrop2007.pdf or the Continuing Education Office.

Failure to withdraw officially may result in a grade of WU in each course. Once classes begin, you must drop a course officially or you will remain liable for all course fees. If you are not able to come to Continuing Education, call 530-898-6105. You may leave a message at this number outside of working hours.
