The Anatomy of Anger

"Neurodevelopmental Pathways to Aggression: A Treatment Guide"

Presented by Dr. Robert L. Hendren, UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute

Plan to join us for an exciting new one-day professional development event for psychologists, therapists, social workers, mediators, educators, behavioral health professionals, and anyone who deals with aggression in children, adolescents, and adults.

This presentation will review the primary symptoms leading to aggressive behavior, describe the underlying neurobiologic pathways for these symptoms, and then use this understanding to design effective interventions for aggressive youth. Presentation materials will include a current review of the medications used to treat aggression and their side effects. While the primary focus of this presentation is on children and adolescents, the model is applicable to adults.

Join us for Anatomy of Anger to learn how to

  • Describe symptoms commonly associated with aggression including impulsivity, affective instability, anxiety/hyperarousal and planned/predatory aggression.
  • Review how these symptoms provide an understanding of the neurodevelopmental etiology (genetic, brain structure & function, environmental interaction) of aggressive behavior.
  • Use these principles to develop effective treatment plans (focused on psychopharmacology) for children and adults with aggressive behavior.
