On-campus housing
can be conveniently reserved when you register for the conference.
On-campus housing offers convenience and a great
location. Participants will be placed in Whitney Hall, Esken
Hall, or Mechoopda Hall and will be accommodated from Thursday, June 19
through the night of Tuesday, June 24. The following prices
include linens:

Off-campus university housing is also available at University
Village, conveniently located one mile from campus. Bathroom
facilities are shared between two people and kitchen facilities are
shared between four people. A pool, spa, and tennis courts are
available at this site. With all single rooms the price per person,
including linens, is $165 per person.

Air Transportation:

Participants have three main
options for
getting to Chico. |
Option 1: United Express has several flights a day between
Chico and San Francisco. Visit
United Airlines
for flight times and prices.
Option 2:
Sacramento International airport serves most major airlines
and is an hour and thirty minutes from
Chico by car.
Shuttle service will be available during the conference, see
below.
Option 3: San Francisco
International is a three-four hour drive
(depending on traffic), see below for driving directions.

Shuttle Service & Car
Rental:
The university
will provide bus service from
the Sacramento airport
to Chico on June 19 and 20 and from Chico to Sacramento on
June 24 and 25. When you register for the conference, please
indicate if you want to take advantage of this service. If you will
not be arriving on these days a shuttle service between
the Sacramento airport and Chico is available through Airport
Transportation Service (530-891-1219). They run quite a few times
a day, but reservations are required.

Driving
Directions to Chico:
From Sacramento Airport:
Follow the signs to I-5 south toward
Sacramento.
Approximately two miles from the airport, follow signs to Hwy. 99
north
and 70 going to Marysville and Chico. Where the road
divides, follow the signs to Hwy. 99 north to Chico. Once in
Chico, exit
Hwy. 99 at Hwy. 32 turning left onto
East 8th St.
to and through downtown Chico. Continue west to Chestnut St. Turn
right on
Chestnut St.
and continue north for six blocks to
West 2nd Street
and the university.
From the San Francisco Airport:
Exit the airport, following the signs to US 101 north.
Merge onto I-80 East toward the Bay Bridge/Oakland. Continue
on I-80 East to Sacramento/Vallejo. Merge onto I-505 north
toward Redding/Winters. Follow the signs to I-5 north.
Turn east on Hwy.
32 in Orland, stay on Hwy. 32 into
Chico to West 2nd
St. Turn left on West 2nd St. and continue to Chestnut St. and the
university.
From Interstate 5 driving north or south:
Turn east on Hwy.
32 in Orland, stay on Hwy. 32 into
Chico to West 2nd

From Hwy. 99 going north to Chico:
Stay on Hwy. 99 north to Chico. Exit Hwy.

From Hwy. 99
going south to Chico:
Take the East 1st Ave. exit and turn right.
Go west to the Esplanade and turn left onto the Esplanade into
downtown Chico and onto Broadway. Turn right on 2nd St. and go
three blocks to Chestnut St. and the university.

AMTRAK and
Greyhound Bus also have regular service into downtown Chico,
although hours are limited. The AMTRAK train depot is located at
West 5th and Orange Streets, telephone: 895-8000 or 800-872-7246.
The train leaves twice daily at
3:06 AM southbound and 1:42 AM northbound. The
San Joaquin is a
combination train and bus ride that leaves
Chico three times daily, all southbound at
9:25 AM, 11:55 AM
and 3:30 PM. This service terminates in downtown
Los Angeles.

Bicycling in Chico:
Chico is a very
bicycle friendly town! Chico is a convenient community for
bicycling, as it is relatively flat and there are ample bike
parking locations as well as bike lanes and bike paths throughout
the community. Virtually everything in town is bicycling distance
(within 5 miles, but mostly within 2 miles). Although bicycle
riding through the core of the university campus is prohibited,
there are convenient bicycle parking locations around the entire
campus. Bicycles are to be parked and locked only in those areas
designated for such parking and may not be locked to fences,
trees, or in buildings. The University Police enforces the
universitys regulations concerning bicycle riding and parking on
the campus.
