How Much Does Early Start Cost?

Early Start Programs offered at any of the CSU campuses have a common fee.  The Summer 2017 fees will be $182 per unit plus $2 for campus related fees. Fees for course instruction materials may also apply and will be listed on the courses page where applicable.

Paying Your Fees

We’ve provided detailed instructions on how to pay your Early Start class fees through the Student Center in the Chico State Portal. If you are attending Chico State in the fall and are not eligible for one of the fee waivers listed below, some or all of your $200 enrollment confirmation deposit may be applied to your Early Start course fee(s).

Refunds

Refunds will be given only if a class is dropped before the day the class starts. Once the class begins, no refund will be given.

Fee Waivers

Early Start Fee Waiver:

California residents who apply for financial aid and have an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of $5,000 or less may be eligible for a waiver of the per unit fee for both the one- and three-unit classes.  If you are eligible for the fee waiver you will be notified in the Student Center when you select Chico as your Early Start campus and/or register for classes. Note: The fee waiver does not cover any additional math course testing or materials fees.

College Fee Waiver for Veterans Dependents

Eligibility for Fee Waiver:
All students must apply with their local county veterans’ services office for a ’15-’16 fee waiver. If deemed eligible, they receive a verification letter take to their campus veterans affairs office so that the fee waiver can be applied. Details can be found here: http://www.csuchico.edu/va/education_benefits/Starting%20Benefits.shtml
