Getting here is easier than you think. You can fly directly into Chico via a short 45 minute flight from San Francisco airport and the highways connecting Chico are usually traffic free. The Sacramento International Airport is the closest major airport. It is 90 miles south of Chico and is served by most major carriers.
Flying Into Chico Airport - (CIC)
There are three flights daily, morning, afternoon and night,
from San Francisco SFO between Chico Municipal Airport (CIC)
via United Airlines operated by United Express/Sky West. Hertz
operates a small rental car operation at the airport. Budget
and Enterprise have off-airport rental offices in Chico. Call
ahead for reservations.

Botany Bus Transportation from Sacramento
We have arranged bus transportation for Botany 2006 attendees from the Sacramento airport on a first come, first served basis.
Bus service will be available on Friday, July 28, Saturday, July 29, and Sunday July 30, from Sacramento to Chico. Shuttle buses will pick up each day at 10am, 2pm, 6pm and 10pm.
Bus service will be available on Wednesday, August 2 and Thursday, August 3 from Chico to the Sacramento International Airport. Buses will pick you up at your designated hotels and the Chico State campus prior to departing Chico at 5am, 9am, 1pm, and 5pm.
Please select a departure time based on your planned flight arrival or departure time (don’t forget to allow adequate time to check or collect baggage). Estimated driving time between the Sacramento International Airport and Chico is 1 hour and 45 minutes. Upon your return to Sacramento, the shuttle may stop and other hotels before going to Sacramento.
The cost of a one way shuttle is $45.00. Round trip is $75.00.
Refund Policy: If you need to update or cancel your reservation
for Botany 2006 housing and/or transportation, a full refund minus $25.00 will
be issued before July 14, 2006. After this date, no refunds will be issued.

Parking
The university has secured free parking for Botany 2006 conference attendees on the third story of the university parking structure
(corner of West 2nd St and Ivy St) and at the parking lots located on Orange Street between Rio Chico Way and West 2nd Street. All campus
parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays.
Alternative Transportation
Train Service
AMTRAK and
Greyhound Bus also have regular service into downtown Chico, although
hours are limited. The AMTRAK train depot is located at W. Fifth and
Orange Streets, telephone: 895-8000 or 800-872-7246. The train leaves
twice daily at 3:06 a.m. southbound and 1:42 a.m. northbound. The San
Joaquin is a combination train and bus ride that leaves Chico three times
daily, all southbound at 9:25 a.m., 11:55 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. This service
terminates in downtown Los Angeles. Contact your local travel agencies
for details.

Transportation services will be available to and from local hotels (and B&Bs) during the conference.

Bicycling In Chico
Chico is a very bicycle friendly town! Chico is a convenient community
for bicycling, as it is relatively flat and there are ample bike parking
locations as well as bike lanes and bike paths throughout the community.
Virtually everything in town is bicycling distance (within 5 miles, but
mostly within 2 miles). Although bicycle riding through the core of the
university campus is prohibited, there are convenient bicycle parking
locations around the entire campus. Bicycles are to be parked and locked
only in those areas designated for such parking and may not be locked
to fences, trees, or in buildings. The University
Police enforces the university's regulations concerning bicycle
riding and parking on the campus.
