International Student Services offered by the Graduate School

Proof of English Language Proficiency
You must submit proof of English Language proficiency and financial resources (US$25,000 per year) when applying to the university.
Undergraduate Applicants Graduate School Applicants

International TOEFL score of 173 or
IELTS band score of 5 or
Successful completion of ALCI advanced level.

International TOEFL score of 213

CSU, Chico Conditional Admission
Apply to CSU, Chico or Saint Mary's College pending your English language proficiency with conditional admission.


Open University
Open University allows you to enroll in regular university classes without formal admission to the university.

Open University Eligibility Requirements:
Demonstrated English language proficiency (TOEFL 173+)
Approval from ALCI

Space availability in the selected classes
Proof of completion of course prerequisites
Approval from the professor and/or academic department

Concurrent Enrollment in ALCI and
Open University Courses

Concurrent Enrollment allows you to enroll in regular university classes while you are enrolled in intensive English language classes at ALCI. Eligibility and Course Enrollment Contingencies are the same as listed above for Open University.
